Limiting the use of coins in Singapore!

Limit use of coins SG

Don’t say no one tell you because I am sharing this on my blog now!  Lol… 😛

Just saw a FB post today where a friend of mine was “slammed” for paying with 4 x 5cents coins.  Yet we are here debating how much the maximum amount for a single transaction.  Bear in mind there is always two sides to a coin; I suspect this is prompted to drive the citizens towards cashless or e-payment, which is a natural progression in the world we live in now.

While there seems to be some temporary inconvenience, the fact of matter is that we dun normally pay with that much coins in one transaction anyway.  So, let’s get over it already. 🙂

How Large Would Your Retirement Income Be?

Have you ever asked yourself how large your retirement income will be when the time comes?

When i asked this question to some of my friends, i received a variety of answers.  Most of them said that they do not know when retirement will be so they would not know how large it will be.  Ironically, some said they will have to work till they die.  Some others said that it will be the time when the government stop extended the retirement age.  They all sounded as if there is no choice.

If you have the luxury of having a financial planner working that out for you, you should be in a good financial shape than 75% of the population.  Most of us, however, may not necessarily have adequate savings to last six months after leaving the workforce.  And this is a serious situation.

But what if there is a way to secure one’s retirement income by embracing the power of technology, and more specifically the power of E-Commerce?  Without diluting your savings or investments, you can now super-charge your retirement income, building an annuity via this 25-year proven business model.

By converting your current expenses into payable credits compounded over 2 – 3 years, you can build a Shopping Annuity which provides you between S$375 – S$4500/week.  I will be attending a preview on this next Tuesday, 21st March 2017, 7:30 – 9pm.  If you are keen to join me to learn more, please fill up the following form below:

DANGER: Ponzi, Pyramid (MLM), Network Marketing and/or Affiliate Marketing

Interesting headline isn’t it?  I thought so too.  Many people i know tried hard to differentiate them but had difficulty in doing so since the structure all looks the same…. like a Pyramid.

Now, it is obviously a topic for constructive discussion since there are a lot more people, especially PMETs, being made redundant in recent months (have you not read the news? ).

First, lets take a look at the typical corporate structure in a MNC:  DBS Bank

Image result for dbs bank corporate structure
Source: DBS Annual Report 2013

  • There is 1x CEO
  • There is a group of Senior Management (Functions) reporting to CEO
  • There are additional sub-functional head report to the Senior Management group
  • There will be a bunch of senior managers reporting to these sub-functional heads
  • There will be a bunch of officers / senior officers (including front liners like bankers or service staff) reporting to these senior managers

Now, let’s take a look at something closer to us, our family tree:

Image result for family tree
Source: Google Images

  • It all starts with our great-great-grand parents in the 1st generation (for illustration only and many of us may have longer lineage)
  • Then we have our great-grand parents and their siblings
  • Then we have our grand parents and their siblings and their extended aunties/uncles and cousins
  • Then we have our parents and their siblings and their extended (grand) aunties/uncles and (distant) cousins
  • Then we have our siblings and cousins and the extended families…..

What do you see common among the above?  Yes, it looks exactly like a Pyramid.  Trust me when i am telling you this; it is as scary as it looks and you should not “trust” the banks or your family members!

Now, if you are frightened enough, you should not read on….

Here’s my take on defining the difference between Ponzi, Pyramid (MLM). Network Marketing and Affiliate Marketing:

PonziPyramid / MLMNetwork Marketing
Affiliate Marketing
Legal?NoNoTechnically YesTechnically Yes
Product? No, simple empty promisesYes, but mostly over-price productsYes, reasonably price productsYes, mostly virtual products
How does one get paid?Fees received from the newest “member” will be used to fund the “profits” of the initial members1. From profit margin of overpriced products1. From profit margin of products1. From profit margin of products
2. From recruiting “new members”2. Commission/bonus paid on successful coaching others to retail products2. Bonus paid for achieving a set target by scheme provider
So what makes it legal / illegal? No real products, preying on gullible victimsOverpriced products and getting paid on recruitment of new membersAs long as you are a member of the business, you are entitled to members discount, regardless if you are working on the business or not. As a member, you can decide if you want to retail the products to make a retail profit. As long as you make/refer a sale, you will be paid a commission as agreed between the scheme provider and yourself. Any bonus will also be in accordance to agreed terms.
Is there a law in Singapore that governs this?Yes, Chapter 190 – Multi-Level Marketing and Pyramid Selling (Prohibition) Act

The above table is pretty brief and meant for simple illustration of the difference.  But this really does not matter… an individual can do all the right things in Network Marketing and/or Affiliate Marketing and yet being coined as a scammer because there will always be those who don’t know what they don’t know acting as if they know.

To end, i would like to you to evaluate the following companies and draw you own conclusion on their marketing methodology:
> My R*public – MPP (Telco)
> Citib*nk – Member-get-Member Program (Banking)

Spartan Trifecta – Finisher of Class 2016

Sunday, 12th March 2017 (Semenyih, KL, Malaysia) – Finally got my hands on this long overdue reward for the hard work put into training. I would like to share this achievement with my teammates, Melvin Kuah, Kevin Koh (Spartan Sprint, Spartan Super), Chua Weng Foo, Edward Lim, and Elliot New (Spartan Beast) ?

I set the goal to complete my #SpartanTrifecta after my #SpartanSprint race in Nov 2015, and completed both #SpartanSuper & #SpartanBeast before I turned 40 years old.  Call it mid-life crisis, it feels good to be alive and doing things that challenge your living.

I am looking for teammates to join me in the next race in Singapore, in May 2017.  If you are interested, visit today! ?

A Eventful Day to Remember

I was out and running since 8:00am this morning, rushing to my senior partner’s home for an online business training webinar which starts at 9:00am.  What caught my interest was how humble those two speakers were; they shared all their trade secrets to building a successful 6-digit monthly residual income over this 1.5hours webinar, no holds bar!

With my next appointment starting at 11:00am, I hitched a ride from a fellow business partner leaving for Clement as i need to be at Clementi West Street 2.  I was so lucky to be caught in the rain right after alighting… Haha…  So i ended up 10 minutes late fro my appointment.  This meeting location brought back memories of my late father.

After lunch, i made my way to Geylang East Central for a school project teaching CCA to a bunch of primary school kids.  This projected lasted about 2 hours but it was another trip down memory late with my late father.  It so happened that my dad used to operate his photo imaging business in those locations between 1980-90s.  Being there made me missed him.

Right after this school project, I made my way to my next appointment which was a job interview to be a fitness trainer with a Functional fitness gym located at Amoy Street.  Spent the next 4 hours there exercising, learning teaching cues, and even had the opportunity to conduct warm-up for the class.  This concept gym was introduced to me in 2013 by an ex-colleague whom had moved back to Australia.  At that time, we were contemplating of bringing this franchise to Singapore but fell short due to exorbitant rents of commercial space.

After the exhausting  session at the gym, i made my way to my in-law’s place, only to see my boy with a huge bruise on his forehead.  He was playing Superman, jumping from one bed to another, knocking his forehead on the edge of the bed frame.  Fortunately, the bed frame was cushioned, else he would probably need stitches.

Braven NG

So, why is this an eventful day to me?  Well, when you give meaning to living, it will always be eventful!  Cheers everyone!
